2025 Front Left Wines “Vermento Demento"

"Actually, while being just about all vermentino in name, it is around 15% sauvignon blanc. Barrel matured. Some portion of this spends 14 days on skins. Saline minerality abounds, a little fino sherry in a way, green apple juice, a touch hazy, then there’s lime, gingery notes, citrus rind, a splash of tonic water. There’s a kind of flat Champagne character to this wine, in the best sense. It’s got some weight too, just on medium, but the body is there. An absolute beauty. It feels like a serious, textural white, maybe not so much of the variety but just an unreal white wine that I want to get back into again and again.”

2025 Front Left Wines “Redback Rose"

"Produced from sangiovese that was (wild) fermented, sourced from Skimstone Vineyard, Mudgee. Made in Mudgee too. Rippling with tart cherry, watermelon granite, blood orange, cool lime, this is a stellar drink, super easy going, refreshing and just a touch crunchy. It’s bone dry but throws out a great sense of fruitiness, offering a touch of pickled, green almond savouriness and bite alongside. It’s un-fined and unfiltered; it is ultra clear and pale, pretty and pure feeling. Bloody heck yes. This is a firm recommend.”

2025 Front Left Wines “Jupiter Juice"

"This is all sangiovese, 30% whole bunches in the ferment. Mudgee going left of centre is a cool thing. Who remembers standing at the front left speaker? Such a great drink. I poured myself a lusty glass after tasting properly as my knock off. It’s sloshy and dark fruited, spicy, a little earthy, splashes of amaro and blood orange, a lick of ginger nut biscuit, a dash of herbs. It has a richness and thickness and then surprises with a levity and freshness. It feels like a wine for tumblers and red-and-white-check tablecloths in suburban trattorias as much as hip wine bars in inner cities. I love these effortless, charming wines.”
